The animation is great and so are the songs. Yes, they have colored hair and large hair styles, but this was the 1980's when it was made, stuff like that was more 'in.' I think families now will appreciate these shows even more than when they were on. Jerrica is given a special gift from her deceased father and with that and a computer he invented she forms the music group, 'Jem and the Holograms.' This show is very entertaining because a lot of the stories COULD be real things that happen in the music business.

In the first five shows in the first season, they run into some financial trouble and an evil swindler is trying to take over the music company. In case you do not know about the Jem character, she is really Jerrica Benton, daughter of a business man who passed away leaving she & her sister, Kimber, (one of the Holograms)a music recording company 'Starlight Music' and 'Starlight House' an orphanage for girls. This feature s two of my favorite characters that form a partnership. In this season, the characters become more 'developed.' And my favorite episode is 'The Bands Break Up'. What's weird is, her name should be FIRST on the voice credits but it's mixed in with all the others alphabetically, so I don't know if that was to keep her identitiy secret (Like Jem's) or what? Anyway, this is part one of season 3 and the bummer is that part two aparently was never made, so there are several more episodes out there. But, I've always loved singers with good voices, be they classical or pop-rock and the lady who does the voice of the character is AWESOME. I love the 'Jem' animated series! It's so unique and interesting! As a person that pretty much only liked super heroes and historical type stuff, this was way different for me.
